Services We Provide

HOMES, Inc. strives to provide affordable housing solutions to families in our service area. We currently employ nine (9) full-time staff and two (2) part time staff to provide affordable housing solutions. These solutions include:

New Home Construction

HOMES, Inc. works with eligible families to get them prepared for home ownership. Then HOMES, Inc. works with the family to find financing that is affordable to them (usually a combination of loan and grant funding) and constructs the home and needed infrastructure to make the project happen. Contact Chris Combs at Extension 300 or to discuss applying for this program. Please refer to the Intake Handout below to know what you need to gather to schedule an intake appointment.

Homeowner Occupied Rehabilitation

HOMES, Inc. utilizes low interest loans and grant funding to perform needed repairs on existing housing stock. In recent years, there has been a significant increase in the need for rehabilitation. A typical job consists of new windows, insulation (a staggering number of existing houses do not have sufficient insulation), replacing wood/coal heat with an energy efficient HVAC unit, upgrading the electrical service and updating wiring for a house. Contact Chris Combs at Extension 300 to discuss applying for this program. Please refer to the Intake Handout below to know what you need to gather to schedule an intake appointment.

Affordable Rentals

HOMES, Inc. now has 36 units of affordable rental housing. Recently, we have experienced an increase in demand for affordable rental units. We generally maintain a waiting list of 20 households in need of affordable rentals. Contact Michelle Slone at Extension 303 to discuss applying for this program. Please refer to the Rental Application below to apply for this program.

HOMES, Inc. Home Loan Fund (HHLF)

The Home Loan Fund is a revolving loan fund that has been built over the years through loaning project funds to families at a low interest rate. The revenues from the fund are then made available to other families for their new construction or home repair project or to create affordable rental housing.

Community Improvement

HOMES, Inc. occasionally performs projects such as razing blighted and deteriorated structures that are a safety or health hazard to the neighboring community. Occasionally, we will be asked to assist with a community based project such as helping repair or build needed community facilities.
